UFC predictions this weekend — whos got the main event and why. dropping my full card picks

full card breakdown because i cant help myself.

the main event is the one everyone is talking about. striker vs grappler matchup. personally i think the grappler wins because the striking differential isnt big enough to keep it standing for 5 rounds. if it goes to the ground in rounds 3-5 when the striker is tired its a wrap.

my picks for the main card:

  • main event: grappler by submission round 4
  • co-main: split decision, gonna be a war. the kind of fight that swings P4P rankings
  • featured bout: first round KO. one guy has a chin problem that hasnt been tested by this level of power
  • opening main card: wrestling dominant decision. one of those fights thats impressive technically but boring to casual fans

the undercard sleeper is the lightweight bout. two unranked guys who are about to put on fight of the night. both are aggressive finishers and neither has gone to decision this year.

P4P discussion: my current top 5:

  1. Islam Makhachev — the most complete fighter alive
  2. Alex Pereira — doing things at 205 that shouldnt be possible
  3. Ilia Topuria — might be the best featherweight ever if he keeps this up
  4. Merab Dvalishvili — grappling pressure that nobody can handle
  5. Belal Muhammad — boring to watch but undeniably dominant

who you got this weekend? and whats your P4P top 5?

Belal at 5 is correct and i hate it. the man is dominant but i would rather watch paint dry than sit through another 5 round Belal decision. respect the skill, reject the entertainment

grappler winning the main event is the right call. everyone wants to see the KO but grappling beats striking more often than not when the grappler has solid takedowns. MMA math is undefeated

your P4P list is solid but Topuria at 3 is too high. he needs at least one more dominant win before jumping guys who have defended multiple times. recency bias is real

the undercard sleeper pick is the type of analysis that separates real fans from casuals. those two lightweights are BANGING and nobody is talking about it. fight of the night lock

anyone doing a DFW watch party for this card? last time we had like 15 people at Buffalo Wild Wings in Plano and it was a vibe

my P4P has Pereira at 1 and i dont care if its controversial. the man cleared out middleweight, is clearing out light heavyweight, and has the most highlight reel KOs in UFC history. the eye test matters
