WHAT DID WE JUST WITNESS.
i had the grappler winning this fight and for the first 3 rounds i felt great about that pick. dominant top control, ground and pound, the striker looked lost on the ground.
then round 4 happened.
the scramble, the reversal, and that KO punch from the bottom that caught EVERYONE off guard. the announcer lost his mind. the arena erupted. i scared my dog off the couch.
this is why we watch this sport. you can gameplan for 8 weeks and one punch changes everything. the grappler was WINNING on every scorecard and now he is unconscious on the canvas.
the co-main delivered too. that split decision was the right call but you could argue it either way. the third round was so close that whatever the judges picked was defensible. both fighters gained stock.
but lets talk about the main event fallout:
- where does the winner rank now? top 5 P4P?
- the loser needs to come back and show that the grappling base is still there
- the callout after the fight was PERFECT. that matchup would sell a million PPVs
- bonus: $50K performance of the night and it wasnt even close
MMA is the greatest sport in the world and tonight proved it. nothing else gives you that rollercoaster.
i literally jumped off my couch and spilled my beer. my wife thought someone broke into the house. that KO was the most shocking finish ive seen in years. maybe ever
