Interesting development. Want to see how this plays out.

I work for NTMWD and want to add context: the Corps of Engineers and NTMWD actively manage lake levels. When heavy rain is forecast, we lower the lake proactively to create flood storage capacity. The 2015 event was exceptional because of cumulative rainfall over months.

the callout after was perfect theater. that matchup HAS to happen. book it for the end of year card. both guys are at their peak right now

hottest take: if your coach kicks you out for visiting another gym, that coach is insecure about what they are teaching. the best coaches ENCOURAGE cross training because they know it makes their students better

Homestead exemption is free money. File it the day after you close. I waited 6 months and missed a quarter of savings. Go to dcad.org — takes 10 minutes online.

Electrify America in Garland is unreliable. Last 3 times I tried, at least 2 stalls were out of order. Check PlugShare before you drive there or you'll waste a trip.

This hits different if you've been in DFW for 10+ years.

I have lived here for 8 years and had no idea about the cemetery on Main St. Going this weekend.

The tornado section is important. As horrible as December 2015 was, it forced Rowlett to rebuild AND it showed the outside world that this community had backbone. The rebuilding effort was featured in national media. People learned about Rowlett and liked what they saw.

That building has been empty for over a year since the bank branch closed. Glad to see it getting a second life as something the community can actually use.

Been thinking about this all week. Good timing on the post.

it gets better. i promise you it gets better. purple belt is the most fun belt in jiu jitsu because you know enough to start developing your own game and the pressure is lower than blue belt. just survive blue belt and the reward is worth it

the coaching credential thing is SO important. my kid was at a club where the coach was a "wrestling enthusiast" who learned from YouTube. we switched to a club with a former D1 wrestler and the technique improvement was immediate

Dodie's is Rowlett even if the address says Rockwall. I will die on this hill. The fried catfish basket with a view of the lake is peak DFW dining.

Following this thread. Want to hear more takes.

i trained at a "muay thai" gym for a year before visiting an authentic gym and realized i had learned basically kickboxing with no elbows no knees and no clinch. wasted a year of my life. do your research before signing up

half point scoring would be revolutionary. right now a round where one fighter barely edges it scores the same as a round where one fighter dominates but doesnt get a finish. 10-9 for both makes no sense

Anytime Fitness needs a third squat rack. Two racks for the whole gym is criminal. I've started going at 5:30am just to guarantee one is open.

Garland ISD gets a bad reputation but Lakeview Centennial and Naaman Forest are legitimately good high schools. People lump all of GISD together and that is unfair.

Bayside Dental is the only dentist my 7-year-old doesn't scream about. Dr. Hanson has the patience of a saint.

The PGBT bridge at golden hour is incredible when photographed from the right angle. I got a shot last November that looked like something from a travel magazine. The cables glowing in sunset light against a purple sky.

Can someone from the north side weigh in? Curious if it's the same up there.

The CoyoteVest sounds ridiculous until you see a coyote in your backyard. Bought one for my Yorkie and I feel 100% better about walks at dusk. The spikes and whiskers actually work as a deterrent.
