Drove past the old bank building on Lakeview Pkwy near Dalrock and the construction paper is finally down. A new restaurant is going in and I have details.
What it is: A locally owned Mediterranean grill. The signage says "Olive Grove Kitchen" and the "Coming Soon" banner lists a projected opening of late spring 2026.
What I could see through the windows:
- Full interior renovation. The old bank layout has been gutted and replaced with an open-concept dining room.
- There is a wood-fired oven visible near the back. That suggests flatbreads, kebabs, or both.
- Patio seating being built on the side facing the parking lot. Looks like 8-10 outdoor tables.
- A bar area with taps visible. So they will have beer at minimum, probably a full bar.
Menu hints from their Instagram (@olivegrovekitchen_rowlett):
- Shawarma plates
- Lamb and chicken kebabs
- Hummus and falafel appetizers
- Mediterranean salads
- Wood-fired flatbreads
- They posted about sourcing local produce, which is a good sign.
Why this matters for Rowlett: Lakeview Pkwy dining is heavily tilted toward Tex-Mex, American comfort food, and chains. A Mediterranean restaurant fills a genuine gap. The closest comparable option right now is in Rockwall or on Firewheel in Garland.
The location is solid. High traffic on Lakeview, visible from the road, adequate parking in the lot. The old bank building is actually a decent size for a restaurant — probably 3,500-4,000 square feet based on the footprint.
What would make it successful: Reasonable prices (Rowlett is not a $30-per-entree market for lunch), consistent quality, and a good happy hour. If they nail those three, they will have a loyal base.
Anyone know the owners or have more details? Drop it below. I will update this post as more info comes out.
Followed their Instagram. The food photos look legit. Not overly styled, just real plates. Opening day is going to be packed.
