The library museum pass program is INCREDIBLE and almost nobody knows about it. We got free admission to the Perot Museum for our family of 4 — that's an $80 value. Ask the librarian at the Rowlett Library front desk.

DFW MMA fans need to do a better job supporting local events. these promotions run on ticket sales and the fighters deserve packed houses. $40 for a night of live fights is the best deal in DFW entertainment

Shared this with my neighborhood group chat. People need to know.

I moved from southeast Dallas where the property crime rate was double this. Rowlett feels like a different planet. My wife walks the dog at 9 PM in Waterview without a second thought. Could not do that at our old place.

Adding to this — check out the spot on Greenville Ave too. Underrated.

1996 Rowlett hits me right in the nostalgia. I was a teenager. We'd hang out at the 7-Eleven on 66 because there was literally nothing else to do. The big excitement was when they built the movie theater in Garland and we didn't have to drive to Mesquite anymore.

Starbucks on Lakeview is a zoo. I went in at 8 AM thinking I would get a seat and every table was taken. The drive-through line was wrapped around to the street. Hard pass for remote work.

Through friends or through hobbies. Join a sports league, a gym, a climbing wall, something. The apps are a wasteland everywhere, not just here.

I met my girlfriend at a trivia night at a local brewery. Go to recurring social events where you see the same people week after week. That's how actual connections form.

We've been in Liberty Grove since 2003. Raised three kids here. Best decision we ever made. The neighborhood is safe, the neighbors are good people, and our kids had friends on every block. It's not fancy but it's home.

Different districts, different realities. Which part of Houston are you in?

The Flonase-two-weeks-early tip is the single best piece of allergy advice I've ever gotten. Started it in February this year and March was actually bearable for the first time in a decade.

add Main Street Boxing and MMA in Mansfield — they do open mat Saturday mornings. smaller crew but really good training partners and the coach is welcoming to visitors

My concern is long road trips. I drive to other parts of the state regularly and charging adds 30-45 minutes to the trip. Not a dealbreaker but it's not nothing.

The distance thing is the real killer. I refuse to date anyone more than 20 minutes away. In Texas that eliminates like 80% of the population.

My neighbor in Princeton Park had three packages stolen in one week in January. She installed a Ring camera and a motion-activated floodlight. Zero thefts since. These people go for easy targets.

trained at Octagon Arlington for a year. the BJJ was good and the coaching was legit. agree that the quality varies by location. i dropped in at a different Octagon location once and the coaching was noticeably weaker. always visit the specific location youre considering

Texas Property Code 92.056. Send a WRITTEN notice (certified mail or email with delivery receipt) describing the condition and giving them reasonable time to fix it. If they don't, you have options including repair-and-deduct.

Local politics affect your daily life more than national. Worth paying attention.

bro go get an xray. a cracked rib that doesnt heal properly can become a much bigger problem. i trained through a "bruised" rib that turned out to be cracked and it took 3 months to heal instead of 6 weeks because i kept aggravating it

finding a good coach who will honestly tell you if youre ready is crucial. some coaches will put you on a card too early to promote their gym. a good coach will hold you back until youre actually prepared

One homicide in a year for a city of 68,000 is remarkable. I lived in Garland before moving to Rowlett and the difference in how safe I feel is night and day. The numbers confirm the feeling.

This has been on my mind too. Living in San Antonio gives you a different perspective on it.

Liberty Grove resident. My Ring camera caught a guy in a silver sedan following the Amazon truck last month. He waited two streets over and then drove back to grab packages off three porches in under two minutes. Shared the footage with Rowlett PD.
