Rowlett has a proud sports tradition across both high schools. Here's a recap of the 2025-2026 seasons and the athletes making noise.
Football:
Rowlett Eagles: The Eagles had a strong regular season, finishing 7-3 and making the playoffs. The offense was led by quarterback Marcus Thompson, a junior who threw for 2,400 yards and 22 TDs. Wide receiver DeShawn Williams was a matchup nightmare — 6'3" with 4.5 speed. He committed to UNT in February. The defense was physical, led by linebacker Christian Okafor (team-high 95 tackles). Playoff run ended in the bi-district round against a tough Allen team, but the future is bright with most starters returning.
Lakeview Centennial Patriots: The Patriots went 6-4 and just missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. Heartbreaking. Running back Jaylen Carter rushed for 1,600 yards and was the District Offensive MVP. The offensive line was one of the best in the area. Defensively, corner Aiden Reyes had 5 interceptions and is getting D2 looks. The Rowlett-Lakeview game was an instant classic — Rowlett won 28-24 on a 4th quarter drive that had the entire stadium on their feet.
Basketball:
Rowlett Eagles (Boys): Made the playoffs as the 4th seed. Guard Isaiah Ford averaged 18 points and 5 assists and earned All-District First Team. The team was young — only two seniors — so expectations are high for next year.
Lakeview Centennial Patriots (Girls): The girls basketball team was the surprise story of the year. Led by senior forward Brianna Okonkwo (16 ppg, 10 rpg), they won the district title and advanced to the area round. Okonkwo signed with Texas State. This team went from 12-18 last year to 26-8 this year. Incredible turnaround.
Soccer:
Rowlett Eagles (Boys): The boys soccer program continues to be one of the strongest in GISD. Made it to the third round of playoffs. Midfielder Carlos Ramirez was named to the All-Region team and is committed to UTD.
Lakeview Centennial Patriots (Girls): Solid season, competitive in district play. Freshman goalkeeper Emma Tran showed promise with 12 shutouts.
Track and Field: Rowlett's Amara Johnson qualified for the state meet in the 100m and 200m. She's only a sophomore. Watch this name — she could be the next DFW track star.
Baseball and Softball: Seasons are underway. Both Rowlett and Lakeview have competitive programs. Early results are promising.

The Rowlett-Lakeview football game this year was the best high school football game I've attended in 10 years. The 4th quarter was unreal. Both student sections were going crazy. This is what high school sports should be.
