Gaming cafes:

Nerdvana (Frisco) — The flagship DFW gaming cafe. Board games, card games, video games, food, full bar. The space is massive. They host Magic: The Gathering tournaments, D&D nights, and video game competitions. Source: nerdvanafrisco.com.

Free Play (Arlington, Richardson, Fort Worth, Denton) — Retro arcade bar. $10 cover, all games free. 100+ arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and retro consoles. The Arlington location is the largest. 21+ after 9 PM.

Cidercade (Dallas, Fort Worth) — Bishop Cider's arcade concept. All cider on tap plus 140+ arcade games with all-you-can-play for $12. The Dallas location in the Design District is excellent.

GamersNexus Cafe (Plano) — PC gaming cafe with high-end rigs. RTX 4080 systems, 240Hz monitors, mechanical keyboards. $8/hour. They host Valorant and League of Legends tournaments.
LAN parties:
- DFW LAN (quarterly, rotating venues) — 100+ person LAN events. Bring your own PC. CS2, Valorant, Rocket League tournaments with cash prizes. Follow @dfwlan on Twitter.
- Micro Center Dallas sometimes hosts smaller LAN events and build workshops. Check their events calendar.
Board game/tabletop:
- Madness Games and Comics (Plano) — Massive space for tabletop gaming. Warhammer, D&D, Pathfinder nights.
- Common Ground Games (Dallas) — Board game cafe concept. Pay by the hour, play from their library of 500+ games.

Common Ground Games is the best spot for board game beginners. The staff teaches you how to play anything in the library. I learned Wingspan there and now own three copies.
