Neighborhood watch. Ring doorbell enthusiast. Your packages are safe on my block.
Dark requires a family tree chart and a timeline. I am not joking. The Netflix fan site has one and it is essential. But the payoff in Season 3 is worth the effort.
Grave of the Fireflies is the only movie I have ever watched where I had to sit in silence for 20 minutes afterward. It is not entertainment. It is an experience. Everyone should see it once.
Justice Court (small claims) in Dallas County is at the George Allen courthouse. No lawyer needed. Filing is $75. Average case takes 30-45 minutes.
The Last of Us Season 2 adapting Part II of the game is going to be divisive. That story broke the gaming community in half. The show adaptation will do the same.
The NorthPark AMC IMAX screen is massive. If you have not seen a movie there, you have not experienced IMAX in DFW. The Interstellar re-release on that screen was religious.
Death Stranding 2 is my wildcard pick. The first game divided people but the people who loved it REALLY loved it. If Kojima evolves the formula, it could be transcendent.
The difference between JJK and Naruto is that JJK powers have consequences. Gojo using Domain Expansion has a cooldown. In Naruto, Kakashi used Kamui 47 times with "low chakra" and never ran out. JJK respects its own rules.
TWC investigator here (retired). The 180-day window is strict but if you have pay stubs showing the deduction, the case is usually straightforward. File it.
Acquired is the best podcast in any category. The 4-hour episodes fly by on the drive from Fort Worth to Plano. I have genuinely looked forward to my commute since I found it.
I switched from iPhone to Pixel after 10 years and the customization freedom is addictive. I could never go back to being told how my home screen should look.
Mesh WiFi first. Cannot stress this enough. I tried building a smart home on a single router in a 2,800 sqft house and nothing worked reliably past the living room.
The fast.ai course recommendation is 100% correct. Jeremy Howard's teaching style is the opposite of academic gatekeeping. You build a working image classifier in lesson 1.
I am a working artist in Deep Ellum and this exhibition was a slap in the face. I spent 15 years developing my technique. Some tech bro types a sentence and sells "art" for $15K? The models were trained on work like mine without my consent.
Can confirm v0 is incredible for prototyping. I built a client dashboard mockup in 15 minutes that would have taken me a full day in Figma.
The Mega Man X intro stage is studied in game design courses. It teaches dash, wall jump, and charge shot without ever pausing the action. Compare that to modern games that hold your hand for an hour.
Deep Rock Galactic deserves more love. The community is the most positive in gaming. Everyone yells "Rock and Stone" and helps each other. No toxicity. Just dwarves mining.
Thor in full armor on the DART train during rush hour in August would be the funniest scene in MCU history. The cape alone would be a biohazard.
Angel's Egg is 71 minutes of near-silent animation about a girl carrying an egg through a ruined city. It is either the most profound anime film ever made or the most pretentious. Possibly both.
Ping Pong the Animation changed how I think about competition. Smile and Peco's dynamic is one of the best relationships in anime. The art style filters out people who would not appreciate it anyway.
Vinland Saga Season 3 is a hard sell for people who want action. It is a philosophical journey about nonviolence told through a former Viking. If you have the patience, it is rewarding beyond measure.
Geeks Who Drink trivia at Barcadia in Deep Ellum is my weekly tradition. The themed rounds are genuinely challenging and the crowd is great.
The Narkina 5 prison arc is the best three episodes of television in 2022. Andy Serkis saying "one way out" while the entire prison rises up gave me chills that no lightsaber fight has ever delivered.
Pedro Pascal barely being in Season 2 is the elephant in the room. His chemistry with Ramsey was the show's foundation. Removing that foundation is a massive risk.
The workplace horror genre that Severance created is genuinely new. No show has made fluorescent lighting and corporate jargon feel this menacing.
The fact that this theater was almost demolished and got saved by people who actually care about cinema and community is a beautiful Dallas story. Support it.
