Real talk right here. No sugarcoating.
Interesting — I think the San Antonio angle gets overlooked.
folkstyle gets underrated because the riding and top pressure translates directly to ground and pound. Covington's entire MMA game is basically folkstyle wrestling with punches added. its brutally effective
adding: there are regular grappling events at various gyms in DFW on Smoothcomp. they pop up almost every weekend. smaller events but great experience for newer competitors
the basketball cardio to BJJ cardio transition is real. i was a marathon runner and gassed out in my first BJJ class. grappling uses muscles you didnt know you had in patterns your body has never done. it takes 3-4 months for your "grappling cardio" to develop
the beginner program at Fortis is actually solid and its separate from the pro team. if you start in the beginner classes you wont be thrown to the wolves immediately. the transition to regular classes is where the intensity shock happens
Can someone from the north side weigh in? Curious if it's the same up there.
This will impact property taxes and city services. Follow closely.
Following this thread. Want to hear more takes.
Not something I expected to read today but glad I did.
The Dallas-Fort Worth angle is what matters here. National takes miss the mark.
We pay $1,450/month for our infant in Frisco at a Primrose. It's painful but the quality is excellent.
the youth program is what makes Main Street special to the community. kids from the area who might not have access to other sports programs can learn boxing for an affordable price. its community service disguised as a gym
trained at GB for 3 years and got my blue belt there. the curriculum is excellent for building a solid foundation. i THEN switched to an independent gym to develop my own game. honestly i think starting at GB was the right call because the structure gave me the fundamentals i needed
following a weight class is great advice. trying to follow the entire UFC roster is overwhelming. pick 155 or 170, learn the top 15, and branch out from there
The hidden fees are the real scam. I signed a lease at $1,450 and my actual monthly payment is $1,680 after trash valet, pest control, amenity fee, and the "technology package" I never asked for.
The food scene in Austin is so deep. This is a good conversation to have.
Had my window smashed at the Bath House lot last month. All they got was an empty gym bag. Cost me $350 to replace the window.
Shared this with my neighborhood group chat. People need to know.
The Houston angle is what matters here. National takes miss the mark.
It'll Do Club has one of the best sound systems in the Southwest. If you're into house and techno, nowhere else in DFW compares.
The pitching depth in the system is what excites me most. We've been pitching-poor for years.
The Grape on Lower Greenville has been there since 1972 and is still one of the best wine experiences in Dallas. The duck entree with a glass of Pinot Noir is perfection.
Been thinking about this all week. Good to see it getting traction here.
i work in the fitness industry and the contract shenanigans at some DFW gyms are borderline predatory. always insist on seeing the written contract before your trial class. if they wont show you the contract terms upfront, leave
The 3-5-2 is interesting. Worked well in preseason but MLS teams will test those wingbacks.
