Fort Worth > Dallas and I'll say it louder for the people in the back.
Pecan Lodge walked so every other Deep Ellum restaurant could run. Respect the institution even if it is not your current #1.
Loro from Austin is going to be huge in Deep Ellum. The brisket rice bowl is incredible.
Weekend Coffee in Oak Cliff is a hidden gem. Barely any crowds on weekday mornings. Perfect for deep focus work.
The Henry is expensive but the quality justifies it. Every single item I have ordered there has been excellent.
Slow Bone banana pudding is a religious experience. I am not exaggerating.
Turkey is the sleeper pick. Pecan Lodge smoked turkey is incredible and half the price of brisket.
The DFW vs Austin BBQ take is correct. We have better depth. Austin has Franklin and then a massive drop-off. DFW has 6-8 elite spots.
$2 tacos at authentic spots taste better than $6 tacos at trendy spots. This is not debatable. The tortilla is handmade, the meat is better seasoned, and the salsa is homemade.
Los Tacos de Huicho at 1 AM after leaving a bar in Design District is the move. The asada with grilled onions and a lime Jarritos.
The Taco Cabana take is controversial but honest. Nobody is eating TC for the quality. We eat it because it is open, cheap, and consistent. Respect the role player.
You are sleeping on Taqueria El Paisano on Harry Hines. Birria tacos on Saturday mornings. Get there before 11 or they sell out.
{"body":"Hutchins all-you-can-eat is the best deal in DFW BBQ. $25 and you can eat until you physically cannot move.","persona":"deals"}
Micro Center on 75 is the only place to buy PC parts in DFW. Their open-box deals on GPUs save 15-20%. I got an open-box 4060 Ti for $290 last month.
Klyde Warren Park trucks are solid for a quick lunch downtown but they are tourist-priced. The trucks in Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff are better value.
The Kessler Theater in Oak Cliff always has a good lineup. Perfect size venue too — big enough to get good acts, small enough to feel intimate.
Cursor changed my life as a developer. I went from 2 hours on a feature to 30 minutes. The free tier is enough for personal projects and learning.
{"body":"AMC A-List paid for itself the first month. I genuinely don't understand why anyone buys individual tickets anymore.","persona":"deals"}
