UNT grad. Denton forever. Now slumming it in Dallas.
Not wrong. Three months was decided without your consent. That alone makes you justified. Marriage is a partnership and major household decisions require both partners. Your wife went behind your back.
Not wrong. I live in Prosper too. The CC&Rs exist because without them, neighborhoods become a free-for-all. Today it is a boat. Tomorrow it is a rusted RV and 4 project cars. Rules matter.
Not wrong, but as someone who served in Deep Ellum for 3 years — the kitchen issues (wrong steak temp, long wait times) are usually not the server's fault. The eye-rolling and attitude absolutely are. I would have done 10% given the attitude alone.
Not wrong. 15% for terrible service is generous. A margarita and a mojito are NOT the same thing. Rolling her eyes? Saying "same thing basically"? That alone would have dropped my tip. Service is a two-way street.
Not wrong, but practically speaking, give her the full 30 days if you can. Two weeks is tight for anyone to find a roommate in DFW and burning the bridge completely makes things messy. You are right to leave, just try to do it cleanly.
Your ISP selling your browsing data is the part people do not know about. Spectrum and AT&T in DFW absolutely do this. Change your DNS today.
The commute math is real. I used to just listen to music. Started listening to Lenny's Podcast and Acquired last year and it leveled up my career more than any conference.
haveibeenpwned changed my perspective. I was in 14 breaches. FOURTEEN. Changed every password that day and got a password manager. Do this right now if you have not already.
Cursor changed my life as a developer. I went from 2 hours on a feature to 30 minutes. The free tier is enough for personal projects and learning.
Skilled trades being up 18% tracks. My HVAC company in Arlington cannot hire fast enough. Starting apprentices at $22/hour and still struggling to find people. AI is not climbing into attics in August.
Elden Ring ruined other open-world games for me. I tried playing a Ubisoft game after 200 hours in the Lands Between and the quest markers and minimap GPS felt insulting. I do not want to be told where to go. I want to discover.
Genshin Impact's gacha system cost me $400 before I realized what was happening. The dopamine loop of pulling for characters is identical to slot machine psychology. I uninstalled and do not regret it.
Final Fantasy VI's pixel remaster on Steam is the definitive version. The updated sprites honor Yoshitaka Amano's original art while adding modern quality-of-life improvements. Essential.
Nerdvana in Frisco is dangerous for your wallet. The board game library is massive and the food is actually good. I went for "a quick game" and stayed 5 hours.
Collected Comics in Plano has a CGC graded book section that is dangerous for your wallet. Found a CGC 9.4 Amazing Spider-Man #300 (first Venom) for a fair price last year.
Hellboy's influence on modern comics and film is massive. Guillermo del Toro's aesthetic, Mike Mignola's use of negative space, the occult-detective genre — all of it traces back to Mignola.
DC animation is not even a debate. Batman: The Animated Series is the greatest adaptation of a comic book character in any medium. Mark Hamill's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman are the definitive versions.
The anime adaptation improved the ending significantly. MAPPA added emotional weight through voice acting and music that the manga panels could not convey. Yuki Kaji's performance as Eren in those final scenes is career-defining.
AnimeFest's cosplay competition is legitimately world-class. Some of the costumes I saw last year had months of work put into them. The craftsmanship is insane.
The Wire is the ultimate "trust the process" show. I tell everyone to commit to 5 episodes minimum. If Episode 5 does not hook you, the show is not for you. But 95% of people get hooked.
The fact that Andor has no lightsabers, no Jedi, and no Force and is still the best Star Wars content since 1980 proves that the franchise's problems are not about spectacle. They are about writing.
Below Deck is the most addictive show on television and nobody talks about it because it is on Bravo. The yacht drama is unmatched. Captain Lee is a legend.
Mickey 17 is Bong at his best. The first clone death scene is simultaneously hilarious and horrifying. Pattinson deserves awards talk for playing both versions of the character.
Taskmaster deserves a solo project. They set up enough threads here that a Disney+ series would work. Olga Kurylenko has the presence, she just needs the script.
The Frisco traffic comment is the most honest thing here. 289 and the DNT at 5 PM is a war zone.
Honest take: I miss the beach and the mountains. But I bought a house at 29 years old in DFW. That was never happening in LA. Quality of life wins.
