My car needs brake pads and rotors on the front and I do not want to go to a chain shop. Looking for an honest independent mechanic in the Rowlett or Rockwall area.
What I need:
- Front brake pads and rotors replacement
- My car is a 2019 Honda Accord
- I have the parts already (bought OEM pads and rotors from RockAuto for $180)
- Just need the labor
Why not a chain:
- Last time I went to Firestone on Lakeview Pkwy, they quoted me $850 for front brakes on my previous car. I looked up the parts cost: $120. They were charging $730 in labor for a 90-minute job. Never again.
- Jiffy Lube tried to sell me a transmission flush on a car with 15,000 miles. These places survive on upselling services you do not need.
What I am looking for:
- An independent shop or mobile mechanic in Rowlett/Rockwall
- Someone who will install customer-supplied parts (some shops refuse)
- Fair labor rate ($80-120/hour is reasonable for this area)
- Honest about what needs to be done and what does not
- Will show you the old parts so you can see why they needed replacing
Budget for labor only: $150-250 for front brakes. This is a 1-2 hour job for a competent mechanic.
