Training & Technique

I drilled the same guard pass 500 times this month and it changed my entire game

Purple belt here. I've been training for 6 years and my guard passing was always my weakest area. I'd try a different pass every roll and get swept or submitted from half guard constantly.

This month I committed to one pass — knee cut from headquarters. 500 reps on both sides. Drilled it before class, after class, and during open mat.

The difference is insane. I'm not thinking about the pass anymore, I'm just doing it. My timing is better, my pressure is better, and I'm catching details I never noticed before.

Stop trying to learn everything. Pick one thing and drill it until it's automatic. Then add the next piece.
