Moved to DFW for my partner and I'm struggling — anyone else?

Throwaway because my partner knows my main.

Moved from Denver to DFW 6 months ago for my partner's job. They got a great offer and we agreed it made sense. But I'm really struggling.

What's hard:

  • I work remote so I don't have a built-in social circle here
  • My partner works 50+ hours and has their own friend group from work
  • I don't know anyone here. Like, zero people.
  • DFW is so spread out that everything feels far and car-dependent
  • I miss mountains. A lot.

What I've tried:

  • Meetup groups (went to 2, felt awkward, haven't gone back)
  • Working from coffee shops (helps the isolation but not the loneliness)
  • Exploring DFW solo (done Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum, Sundance Square, Fort Worth Stockyards — all great but solo activities hit different)

What I need:

  • Honest advice from anyone who moved here for a partner
  • How long did it take to feel like home?
  • How do you build a life that's YOUR life and not just an extension of your partner's?

I love my partner. I don't regret the move. But man, I'm in a funk.
