Helping a friend plan and we went down a rabbit hole. Here are the best spots.
Outdoor:
- Dallas Arboretum — specifically the Jonsson Color Garden. Timing it during Dallas Blooms (March-April) with the tulips is peak proposal energy.
- Japanese Garden at Fort Worth Botanic Garden — serene, intimate, beautiful year-round. $12 entry.
- Reunion Tower — the GeO-Deck at sunset. Classic Dallas skyline backdrop.
- Katy Trail at the West Village overlook — if your partner is a runner/cyclist, this is meaningful.
- White Rock Lake spillway — sunset facing downtown. Free, public, gorgeous.
Restaurant/venue:
- The French Room (downtown Dallas, The Adolphus Hotel) — if you want old-money Dallas elegance.
- Reata (Sundance Square, FW) — rooftop with Fort Worth skyline. Ask for a corner table.
- Monarch (The National, Design District) — rooftop, stunning views.
Unique:
- At a Mavericks/Stars game — they do jumbotron proposals. Contact the team's fan experience department.
- Bishop Arts mural walk — if your partner loves art. There's a specific heart mural on Davis St.
- Perot Museum rooftop garden — unexpected, unique, great views.
Pro tips:
- Hire a hidden photographer. DFW has tons of proposal photographers on Instagram. Budget $200-400.
- Go on a weekday if possible. Fewer crowds = more intimate.
- Weather backup plan. Always. This is Texas.
Anyone proposed at a creative DFW spot?
Proposed at the Dallas Arboretum during Dallas Blooms. 10/10 recommend. The photos were incredible.
