DFW dating red flags: Things I wish someone told me

After 3 years of dating in DFW, here are the red flags that are specific to this area. Take from it what you will.

The profile red flags:

  • "Just moved to Dallas for work" + every photo is at a rooftop bar = here for 18 months, max
  • Lists their job as "entrepreneur" but lives in a Plano apartment with 3 roommates
  • Every photo is at AT&T Stadium, TopGolf, or a lake house they don't own
  • Bio says "looking for my partner in crime" — they are not looking for anything specific

The date red flags:

  • Suggests meeting at NorthPark Mall food court. For a first date. Sir.
  • Gets visibly annoyed about the drive. In DFW, everything is 30 minutes away. Accept it.
  • Complains about Dallas vs Fort Worth like it's a personality trait
  • Only wants to hang out in one area of DFW and refuses to cross 30/35

The relationship red flags:

  • Their entire social life is their college friend group and they have no interest in expanding it
  • They've lived in DFW their whole life and have never been to the Kimbell, the DMA, or Fort Worth Water Gardens
  • Road rage that scares you. DFW traffic is bad but it's not a personality.

The green flags (because it's not all bad):

  • They suggest a specific restaurant, not just "let's get food somewhere"
  • They know the back roads to avoid 75 and 635
  • They have a library card
  • They've been to both Dallas AND Fort Worth and appreciate both

This is half joke, half real. What are your DFW dating red/green flags?
