Best first date spots in DFW by budget — from broke to baller

First dates are stressful enough without worrying about where to go. Here is the definitive DFW first date guide organized by how much you want to spend.

Free ($0):

  • Klyde Warren Park — walk, talk, grab free food from a food truck if one is giving samples. The vibe is relaxed and there is always something happening.
  • White Rock Lake — 9-mile trail. If you both like being active, a walk around the lake is the best free date in Dallas.
  • Fort Worth Water Gardens — stunning, unique, free 24/7. Nobody brings a date here and regrets it.
  • Northpark Center walk — yes, window shopping as a date. Works better than you think because it sparks conversation.

Cheap ($15-30):

  • Bishop Arts District walk + coffee at Davis Street Espresso — the neighborhood is charming, the coffee is great, and you can walk to boutiques and galleries.
  • Truck Yard (Lower Greenville) — casual outdoor bar with $6 beers, food trucks, and a treehouse. Does not feel like a date-date, which takes the pressure off.
  • Cidercade (Deep Ellum) — $12 entry, unlimited arcade games, cheap drinks. Great for competitive people.
  • Tacos + walk on Jefferson Blvd in Oak Cliff — $10 for incredible tacos and a culturally rich neighborhood to explore.

Mid-range ($50-80):

  • Sixty Vines (Uptown) — wine on tap, shareable plates, nice atmosphere. $60 for two people with wine and apps.
  • HG Sply Co (Lower Greenville) — rooftop patio, good food, great cocktails. $70 for two.
  • Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth — walk the strip and pick a restaurant. The Bearded Lady, Kent & Co, and Brewed are all great.
  • Perot Museum evening event — occasional after-hours events with drinks. Science + cocktails = surprisingly good date.

Baller ($100+):

  • Monarch (Design District) — rooftop with Dallas skyline views. Cocktails are $18 each but the view is unbeatable.
  • Uchi (Dallas) — Japanese cuisine. The omakase is $120/person but it is an experience, not just a meal.
  • The Mansion Bar at Rosewood Mansion (Turtle Creek) — old money Dallas vibes. $25 cocktails in a room that makes you feel like you are in a Gatsby scene.
  • Jazz night at Balcony Club (Lakewood) — live jazz, great cocktails, intimate atmosphere. $80 for two with drinks.

The DFW first date rule: Keep it casual. DFW culture is less formal than NYC or LA. A great conversation at Truck Yard beats an awkward silence at Uchi.

Fort Worth Water Gardens as a first date is an absolute cheat code. It is free, it is stunning, and nobody knows about it unless they live in Fort Worth. Every date I have taken there has been impressed.

Cidercade in Deep Ellum is the best first date in DFW under $30. You learn more about someone playing arcade games for an hour than you do over awkward dinner conversation.

Truck Yard takes the pressure off because it does not feel like a traditional date. It feels like hanging out. That casual energy leads to better conversation.

The Monarch rooftop view is incredible but go on a clear night. Dallas skyline on a clear evening from that rooftop is genuinely one of the best urban views in Texas.

Bishop Arts walk is underrated for dates. The murals, the boutiques, the energy — it gives you a hundred conversation starters without having to force one.
