Texas Rangers

The Rangers broadcast experience: Radio, TV, and streaming options for 2026

Following the Rangers across every platform in 2026 requires navigating an increasingly complicated media landscape. Here is the complete guide.

Television:

  • Local broadcasts are on the new regional sports network arrangement following the Bally Sports bankruptcy. Check your local listings for the current carrier.
  • National broadcasts on ESPN, FOX, TBS, and Apple TV+ are scattered throughout the season. The Rangers have approximately 15-20 nationally televised games per year.

Streaming:

  • MLB.TV ($149.99/year for all out-of-market games) is the standard for fans outside the DFW blackout zone. Source: MLB.com pricing.
  • Apple TV+ Friday Night Baseball has 2-4 Rangers games per season. Free with an Apple TV+ subscription ($9.99/month).
  • Local game streaming options have improved since the Bally Sports collapse, but blackout restrictions remain for in-market fans.

Radio:

  • 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) is the Rangers' flagship radio station. Every game, pre-game and post-game shows.
  • Spanish language broadcasts available on designated stations.
  • MLB At Bat app ($2.99/month) includes audio for all games.

The blackout problem: In-market fans (DFW area) are blacked out from MLB.TV for Rangers games. This means if you do not have the local RSN, your legal options are limited to the radio, going to the game, or national broadcasts. This is the most frustrating aspect of being a baseball fan in 2026.

VPN workaround: Many fans use VPN services to circumvent blackout restrictions on MLB.TV. This is technically against MLB's terms of service but is widely practiced. I am not recommending it, just acknowledging it exists.

MLB.TV with a VPN is how most tech-savvy fans watch. $150 for every out-of-market game is a great deal. The blackout policy just forces people to find workarounds.

105.3 The Fan radio broadcasts are excellent. The radio team is genuinely good at painting a picture. Sometimes I prefer radio to TV because the call is more engaging.

The blackout situation is insane in 2026. I live in Dallas, I want to watch my team, and I cannot legally stream them without a cable subscription to a specific channel. MLB is leaving money on the table.
