Texas Rangers

If you could relive one Rangers moment live, which would you choose?

The Texas Rangers have 54 years of history (since 1972 in Texas). If you could go back in time and be in the stadium for one single moment, which would you pick?

My choice: Adolis Garcia's walk-off grand slam, Game 3 of the 2023 ALCS vs. Houston

Bottom of the 9th, Rangers trailing 5-4, bases loaded, 2 outs. Garcia hit a grand slam to left-center to win the game 9-5. Globe Life Field erupted. The building shook. You could hear the crowd from the parking lot. Source: Baseball Reference game log, October 18, 2023.

This is my pick because it combines everything: rivalry (Astros), stakes (ALCS), situation (walk-off, bases loaded, 2 outs), and the fact that it happened on the way to the first championship in franchise history.

Other candidates:

  • Nolan Ryan's 7th no-hitter (May 1, 1991) — The oldest pitcher to throw a no-hitter at 44 years old. Against the Blue Jays at Arlington Stadium.
  • Kenny Rogers' perfect game (July 28, 1994) — The only perfect game in franchise history. Source: Baseball Reference.
  • Nelson Cruz's Game 6, 2011 World Series HR — Cruz hit two home runs to force a deciding Game 7. (The subsequent collapse makes this bittersweet.)
  • The final out of Game 5, 2023 World Series — The Rangers clinched their first championship. In Arizona, not at home, but still historic.
  • Adrian Beltre's 3,000th hit (July 30, 2017) — A double off the wall at Globe Life Park. The celebration was emotional.
