Not everyone drinks. Here's how to have a great night out in DFW without alcohol.
Activities:
- Cidercade (Deep Ellum) — $12 unlimited arcade games. BYOB but plenty of people don't drink. The games are the point. Source: cidercade.com
- Free Play (Richardson, Arlington, Denton) — same concept, vintage arcade. Full bar but arcade-focused. Source: freeplayinc.com
- Bowlounge (Design District) — bowling + good food. You can order non-alcoholic cocktails.
- Escape rooms — Escape Expert (Plano), Riddle Room (Frisco). Great night activity without alcohol.
Mocktail-friendly bars:
- Midnight Rambler — their bartenders make excellent non-alcoholic cocktails. Just ask.
- The Joule Hotel bar — upscale and happy to accommodate non-drinkers.
- Houndstooth Coffee (multiple) — open late at some locations. Excellent coffee and tea.
Late-night food (the real nightlife):
- Whataburger — 24/7. The 2am Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit is a DFW rite of passage, drunk or sober.
- Buzzbrews (Deep Ellum, Lakewood) — 24/7 breakfast. Source: buzzbrews.com
- Twisted Root (Deep Ellum) — open late on weekends. Burgers.
- K-BBQ on Royal Lane — several Korean BBQ spots open until midnight or later.
Live entertainment:
- Comedy shows (Dallas Comedy Club, Hyena's) — no drink minimum at most.
- Live music at The Kessler, Tulips, Trees — the music is the experience, not the bar.
- Late-night movies at Alamo Drafthouse — food and non-alcoholic drinks available.
The reality: DFW nightlife is alcohol-focused like most American cities. But being sober doesn't mean staying home. Most venues are happy to serve mocktails and nobody cares what's in your glass.
