My coworker took me to a Stars game and I was hooked immediately. Never watched hockey before. The speed and physicality is unreal.
But I don't understand half of what's happening. What's icing? Why do they change lines so fast? What makes a good power play vs a bad one?
I don't want a textbook explanation. Just tell me like I'm a football fan trying to understand hockey.
Lines change fast because skating full speed is exhausting. A shift is 30-45 seconds. It would be like if football linemen had to sprint the whole play.
