Suspicious door-to-door "security company" canvassing our Frisco neighborhood

Two men going door to door in our Frisco neighborhood (near Stonebriar area) claiming to represent a security company doing "free home security audits."

Concerning behavior:

  • They don't have a Frisco solicitor's permit (required by city ordinance)
  • When asked for credentials, they got evasive
  • They were taking photos of houses including garage doors and side gates
  • They specifically asked "is anyone home during the day?"
  • Driving an unmarked white van with no company branding

What I did:

  • Told them to leave my property
  • Called Frisco PD non-emergency (972-292-6010) to report
  • Shared photos from my doorbell camera on our HOA Facebook group
  • Alerted immediate neighbors

Frisco PD said:

  • This is a known burglary reconnaissance tactic
  • Legitimate companies have city permits and branded vehicles
  • NEVER let strangers "audit" your home security
  • Report any solicitors without permits

Our Stonebriar HOA just sent a blast email about this. Frisco PD increased patrols in our area for the next week.

This is a classic casing technique. They ask about schedules and routines to plan break-ins. Never share that information with strangers.

Frisco requires a solicitors permit that you can verify on the city website. If they cant show one, call the police.

Same two guys came to our street near Lebanon and Eldorado last week. I refused to open the door and they moved on quickly.
