Where to watch NBA games in DFW when it is not a Mavs game

DFW is Cowboys country first, but the NBA fanbase is growing. Here is where to catch non-Mavs NBA games around the metroplex.

Best for multiple games at once:

  1. Christie's Sports Bar (Greenville Ave, Dallas) — Multiple massive TVs. They will put any game on any screen if you ask. Sunday NBA slate here is underrated.
  2. Hero (multiple DFW locations) — Upscale sports bar chain. Good for NBA League Pass games that are not on national TV.
  3. Buffalo Wild Wings (everywhere) — They have every channel. Not the best food or atmosphere but guaranteed to have the game on.

Best for NBA playoff atmosphere: 4. Happiest Hour (Harwood District, Dallas) — Gets genuinely rowdy during NBA playoffs. Even for non-Mavs series. The Finals atmosphere here is electric. 5. Truck Yard (Lower Greenville) — Outdoor screens. Playoff basketball on a nice April/May evening is a vibe.

For specific fanbases:

  • Lakers fans: They are everywhere. No specific bar, they just show up in purple and gold at any sports bar.
  • Warriors fans: The Steph Curry bandwagon hit DFW hard in 2015-2018. They congregate at the trendier spots.
  • Celtics fans: Surprisingly large fanbase in DFW due to Boston transplants. No official watch party spot identified.

At home:

  • NBA League Pass ($15-25/month) — Every out-of-market game. Essential for non-Mavs NBA fans.
  • ESPN / TNT / ABC — National TV games. The marquee matchups.
  • NBC starting in 2025-26 — New broadcast partner adds more national games.

Christie's on Greenville is the move for NBA. They have enough TVs to put 4 games on simultaneously and the bartenders actually know basketball. Not just a football bar.

Happiest Hour for NBA Finals is an experience. Even in DFW, people pack that place for the Finals. Game 7 atmosphere is legitimate.

NBA League Pass is worth it if you follow a team that is not on national TV regularly. Watching Spurs games to see Wembanyama develop has been my obsession this season.
