What are you watching this week? April 2026 thread

Drop what you are planning to see in theaters or at home this week. Looking for recommendations.

In theaters this week:

  • Thunderbolts* (week 2, still strong)
  • The Amateur with Rami Malek — early reviews are surprisingly positive
  • Ballerina (John Wick spinoff) — Ana de Armas doing her own stunts

Streaming this week:

  • Netflix: new season of Stranger Things (final season, part 1)
  • Apple TV+: Severance Season 3 just dropped
  • Max: The Penguin follow-up limited series

What I am watching: Finally catching up on Everything Everywhere All At Once (yes I know I am late). Also planning to see Thunderbolts* a second time at Alamo Drafthouse because the first viewing was that good.

What I need recommendations for:

  • Best horror movie in theaters right now?
  • Any good indie films playing at Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff?
  • What is the must-watch on streaming I am sleeping on?

DFW people — what showing are you hitting this weekend?

Ballerina is fun but do not go in expecting John Wick 4 quality. It is more like Chapter 2 tier. Solid action, thin plot. Worth a matinee.

bruh

Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff is playing a Miyazaki retrospective this month. Spirited Away on the big screen is a must. Source: texastheatre.com schedule.

Severance Season 3 is already the best show on television this year. The first two episodes are perfect. Do not look up spoilers.
