tired of watching fights alone on your phone. DFW has some great spots to watch UFC with other fans.
bars that consistently show UFC PPVs:
- Twin Peaks (multiple locations) — always has the card, big screens, decent food
- Buffalo Wild Wings (multiple) — reliable but can be overcrowded for big cards. get there early
- Hooters (multiple) — always has it on, casual atmosphere
- Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (Plano) — newer spot, great food, good screen setup
the underrated move:
- find a local MMA gym that hosts watch parties. several DFW gyms do this for big cards. you watch fights with people who actually train and the commentary is 1000x better than listening to drunk casuals scream "just stand up bro"
- Mohler MMA and Fortis MMA have both hosted watch parties in the past
the home setup:
- honestly for most PPVs a home watch party with 5-10 friends who actually know MMA is the best experience
- split the PPV cost ($80 / 8 people = $10 each)
- make food, have drinks, pause between fights to argue about the scoring
what to avoid:
- crowded sports bars on Conor McGregor cards. the entire bar becomes MMA experts for one night and the energy is more frat party than fight night
- any bar that charges a cover to watch UFC. the bar paid the commercial license fee, they should not be double dipping
where are you watching fights this weekend? anyone want to organize a DFW KnowYard watch party?
Buffalo Wild Wings pro tip: call ahead on big PPV nights and get a table reserved. ive been turned away before because the place was at capacity by 7pm for a Conor card
