POV: You just told someone from Fort Worth that Fort Worth is "basically Dallas"

I have made a terrible mistake.

Things that are safer than telling someone from Fort Worth that it's "basically Dallas":

  • Cutting someone off on 635
  • Telling a Texan you prefer Kansas City BBQ
  • Wearing an Eagles jersey to AT&T Stadium
  • Putting beans in chili

Fort Worth people when you say "DFW is just one city":

  • Their eye twitches
  • They take a deep breath
  • They begin a 45-minute lecture on how Fort Worth is "the real Texas"
  • They mention that Fort Worth has the Stockyards, better museums, and actual culture
  • They bring up how Dallas is "all corporate and no soul"
  • You are now trapped in this conversation forever

Meanwhile, people from Dallas when you mention Fort Worth: "Oh yeah, that's out west, right? I think I went there once for a concert."

The rivalry is real but only one side is keeping score.

Anyone else deal with this?

The "I think I went there once for a concert" is sending me because that is EXACTLY what Dallas people say about Fort Worth.

I live in Arlington which means both Dallas AND Fort Worth people look at me with pity.

Fort Worth resident here. We are keeping score because someone has to maintain STANDARDS.

As someone from Fort Worth: the Stockyards, Sundance Square, and the Cultural District are legitimately better than anything in Dallas fight me.
