Teacher Assistant

- Support the lead teacher in a K-5 elementary classroom with instruction and behavior management - Work with small groups of students on reading, math, and writing interventions - Prepare classroom materials, copy worksheets, and set up learning stations - Supervise students during lunch, recess, and hallway transitions - Assist with standardized test preparation and administration

- 48 college credit hours or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment - Clear criminal background check (required by law for school district employees) - Patience and genuine enjoyment of working with children ages 5-11 - Ability to follow teacher's lesson plans and adapt to different learning styles - CPR certification (or willingness to obtain — district provides free training)

- $15-$17/hr for a school-year schedule (roughly 187 days per year) - Summers, winter break, and spring break OFF with option for summer school extra pay - TRS (Teacher Retirement System) pension — this is a real retirement benefit - Health insurance through the district with significant employer contribution - Pathway to teaching: many TAs pursue alternative certification while working
