I'll go first. These are my unpopular DFW opinions. Bring the heat.
-
Pecan Lodge is overrated. It's good BBQ, not great BBQ. The line and the price don't match the product. Cattleack and Goldee's are better.
-
Fort Worth is a better city to live in than Dallas. The pace of life, the arts, the friendliness, and the cost. Dallas has more stuff but Fort Worth has better vibes.
-
DART is actually decent if you live near a line. I take the Red Line from Plano to downtown Dallas regularly. 35 minutes, no traffic, $2.50. People trash DART because they want it to go everywhere, but where it goes, it works.
-
Uptown is boring. There. I said it. It's clean, it's safe, it's full of chain restaurants and generic sports bars. The interesting stuff is in Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, Oak Cliff, and Fort Worth.
-
DFW winter is actually nice. Mild temps, occasional cold snaps, rarely need a real winter coat. People who complain about "missing seasons" are romanticizing shoveling snow at 6 AM.
-
NorthPark Mall is the best mall in America. The architecture, the art collection, the stores. It's genuinely a cultural destination.
What are YOUR unpopular DFW opinions?
Fort Worth > Dallas for LIVING is not unpopular anymore. Cost of living, culture, walkability in key areas. The secret is getting out.
