Family-friendly restaurants in DFW: Where to take kids without losing your mind

Eating out with kids in DFW doesn't have to be Chili's every time. Here are spots with great food AND kid-friendly vibes.

Active kids (they need to move):

  • Truck Yard (Lower Greenville or The Colony) — Outdoor, casual, kids can run around. Food trucks = everyone picks what they want.
  • Klyde Warren Park food trucks — Open space + playgrounds nearby + good food.
  • Liberty Burger (multiple) — Crayons, paper, quick service. Burgers are legit.

Crowd-pleasers (something for everyone):

  • Mia's Tex-Mex (4322 Lemmon Ave) — Been here 40+ years. Brisket tacos are legendary. Kids menu $6-8.
  • Norma's Cafe (multiple) — Diner food. Huge portions. Kids eat free on certain nights.
  • Babe's Chicken (Carrollton, Burleson, others) — Family-style fried chicken, all-you-can-eat sides. $13-15/person. Kids go wild for the bottomless corn and biscuits.

Slightly nicer (you still want to enjoy the food):

  • Eatzi's Market (multiple) — Bakery counter, grab-and-go, sit-down options. Kids pick a pastry, you get a real meal.
  • Gloria's (multiple) — Pupusas for the kids, cocktails for you. Everyone wins.

Pizza night:

  • Cane Rosso — Wood-fired pizza is kid-friendly by nature. Deep Ellum location has space.
  • Eno's (Bishop Arts) — Chill patio, simple pizzas for kids.
