After years of eating across the metroplex, here's my pick for the single best restaurant in each cuisine category.
BBQ: Cattleack Barbeque (Farmers Branch) — Thu-Sat only. Ribs. Tacos: Revolver Taco Lounge (Deep Ellum) — Bone marrow taco. Upscale Mexican: Meso Maya (Deep Ellum) — Mole negro. Sushi: Uchi Dallas (Uptown) — Omakase. Italian: Carbone (Design District) — Spicy rigatoni vodka. Pizza: Cane Rosso (Deep Ellum) — Honey Bastard. Indian: Tandoor Indian (Richardson, 675 N Central Expy) — Butter chicken, naan is fresh. Vietnamese: Pho Bac (Garland, 3956 W Walnut St) — Been there 20+ years. Pho is soul food. Thai: Asian Mint (multiple, best at 11617 N Central Expy) — Nikky Phinyawatana's menu is elite. Korean: Omi Korean Grill (Carrollton, 2625 Old Denton Rd #316) — KBBQ done right. Chinese: Jeng Chi (Richardson) — Dim sum Saturday. Burger: Rodeo Goat (multiple, best at 2836 Bledsoe St, Fort Worth) — Fancy burgers that work. Steak: Town Hearth (Design District, 1150 Turtle Creek Blvd) — Over the top, but the ribeye is perfect. Seafood: TJ's Seafood (multiple) — Fresh fish, good raw bar.
