Best thrift stores in DFW: Where the real finds are

Forget Goodwill (unless you know which one). Here's where to actually find good stuff.

Tier 1 — Consistently great:

  • Genesis Benefit Thrift Store (Greenville Ave, Dallas) — designer finds regularly. The Highland Park donations filter here.
  • Dolly Python (Deep Ellum) — vintage, curated, pricier but worth it for statement pieces.
  • Lula B's (Oak Cliff) — two locations. Furniture, vintage decor, and clothing. Absolute treasure trove.

Tier 2 — Hit or miss but worth checking:

  • Goodwill on Inwood Rd (near Love Field) — gets donations from Park Cities. Best Goodwill in DFW.
  • Salvation Army (Harry Hines) — massive. Bring patience. Furniture deals are insane.
  • Buffalo Exchange (Lower Greenville) — buy/sell/trade. Curated selection, fair prices.

Tier 3 — Bulk treasure hunting:

  • Goodwill Outlet (Cockrell Hill Rd) — bins. You pay by the pound. This is where flippers go.
  • Plato's Closet (multiple DFW) — teen/young adult clothing. Great for basics.

Fort Worth:

  • Vintage Market Days — periodic events at Will Rogers. Source: vintagemarketdays.com
  • Montgomery Street Antique Mall — not thrift exactly, but vintage at fair prices.

Pro tip: Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are restock days at most Goodwills. That's when the good stuff hits the floor.

Genesis on Greenville is the truth. Found a Burberry trench there for $18. Highland Park people donate NICE stuff.

Please stop telling people about the Inwood Goodwill. That's my spot.

Lula B's in Oak Cliff is amazing for furniture. Furnished half my apartment there for under $500.

Goodwill Outlet on Cockrell Hill is not for the faint of heart. It's a war zone on weekends. But I've found $200+ items for $3.
