Package thieves are out of control in my neighborhood

Three packages stolen in the last month. I have a Ring doorbell so I have footage of all three. Different person each time. One guy pulled up in a car, grabbed it in 5 seconds, and drove off. Broad daylight.

I filed police reports for all three. Got case numbers. Haven't heard a single thing back. I know they can't investigate every package theft but at this point it feels like there are zero consequences.

Switching to Amazon Locker for everything I can. But what about FedEx and UPS shipments? What's actually working for people?

Package lockbox on the porch. $80 on Amazon. You put a sign on it that says "delivery drivers: please place packages inside." Works 95% of the time. Haven't had a theft since.

Ring footage and police reports don't accomplish anything in my experience. The camera is for insurance claims, not actual justice. Sad but true.

I have everything delivered to my office now. Annoying to carry it all home but at least it's secure.

Ship to a UPS Store access point or FedEx hold location. Both are free. Less convenient but zero theft risk.

Our neighborhood started a group chat where people post when they're expecting deliveries and others keep an eye out. Old school community policing. Actually works.
