Route optimization:
- Waze over Google Maps. Waze catches real-time incidents faster in DFW. Set departure time alerts.
- Learn the service roads. In DFW, most highways have parallel frontage/service roads. When the highway locks up, exit and use them.
- I-35E alternative: Jupiter Rd or Coit Rd run parallel through Richardson/Plano. Slower but predictable.
- DNT alternative: Preston Rd for the entire length. Traffic lights but no tolls.
- I-30 alternative: Davis St or Jefferson Blvd through Oak Cliff for east-west.
Timing (avoid these windows):
- Morning: 7:15-8:45 AM (worst at 7:45)
- Evening: 4:30-6:30 PM (worst at 5:15)
- Friday 3:00 PM: DFW shuts down. Just accept it.
