Road rage in DFW: It's getting worse and here's how to stay safe

TxDOT reported a significant increase in road rage incidents across DFW. This is a real safety concern.

The data:

  • Texas leads the nation in road rage shootings. Source: Everytown for Gun Safety, 2025 data.
  • DFW had 200+ reported road rage incidents involving weapons in 2025. Source: NBCDFW.com
  • 75, 635, and I-30 are the most common corridors. Source: Dallas Police Department reports.

How to avoid escalation:

  1. Don't engage. No honking (unless imminent danger), no gestures, no eye contact. Seriously.
  2. Let them pass. Ego isn't worth your life. Move over.
  3. Don't follow and don't be followed. If someone is following you, drive to the nearest police station (know where yours is).
  4. Dashcam everything. Records evidence without confrontation.
  5. Call 911 for aggressive drivers. Give location, direction of travel, and license plate if safe to note.

Nearest police stations to major DFW corridors:

  • Dallas PD Northeast: 9915 E. Northwest Hwy
  • Dallas PD Central: 334 S. Hall St
  • Fort Worth PD West: 3500 W. Bolt St
  • Arlington PD: 620 W. Division St

Personal rule: I treat every other driver as if they might be having the worst day of their life. Costs me nothing. Might save my life.

Stay safe out there.
