Structure fire at apartment complex on Forest Lane in North Dallas — residents displaced

Dallas Fire-Rescue is battling a 2-alarm fire at an apartment complex in the 9800 block of Forest Lane.

Current status:

  • Fire broke out around 6 AM in a second-floor unit
  • Spread to at least 4 adjacent units before being contained
  • No fatalities reported, 2 people treated for smoke inhalation
  • Approximately 20 residents displaced

Response:

  • DFR has 8 units on scene
  • Red Cross is setting up a temporary shelter at the nearby rec center
  • Forest Lane reduced to one lane each direction between Audelia and Abrams

If you want to help, Red Cross says they need water, blankets, and clothing donations at the Forest Lane Recreation Center.

These older complexes on Forest Lane have had fire issues before. A lot of them were built in the 70s with minimal fire suppression.

Red Cross volunteer here. We are accepting donations at the rec center until 8 PM tonight.

I live in the complex next door. Woke up to sirens and could see flames from my window. Terrifying.
