DFW tech layoffs tracker 2026 — who is hiring, who is cutting, and where to look

The tech job market in DFW has been chaotic. I have been tracking announcements, LinkedIn layoff posts, and WARN Act filings. Here is the current state of DFW tech employment as of March 2026.

Companies that cut jobs in DFW (2025-2026):

  • AT&T (Downtown Dallas HQ) — Multiple rounds of layoffs. Estimated 2,000+ DFW positions eliminated across 2025. Source: WARN Act filings with Texas Workforce Commission.
  • Match Group (Dallas) — Cut 15% of workforce in late 2025. Tinder and Hinge teams affected.
  • Salesforce (offices in Dallas and Frisco) — Ongoing "restructuring." DFW office reduced.
  • Several mid-size DFW SaaS companies — Not making headlines but LinkedIn is full of "open to work" posts from Plano/Richardson/Frisco tech workers.

Companies actively hiring in DFW:

  • Toyota (Plano HQ) — Hiring heavily for connected vehicles and AI/ML roles. Source: Toyota careers page.
  • Charles Schwab (Westlake campus) — Tech infrastructure and cybersecurity roles. Source: Schwab careers.

  • Fort Worth defense and aerospace is recession-proof and AI-proof.
  • Remote roles are harder to land. Companies are pulling back on full remote.

The remote work pullback is real. I had 3 offers rescinded when I said I would not relocate to DFW. Companies are done with remote for mid-level roles.

Defense in Fort Worth is the move if you want stability. Lockheed has been hiring nonstop for F-35 related software. You need a clearance but they will sponsor it.

AT&T layoffs have been brutal and quiet. They do it in waves so it never makes big headlines. Everyone I know at AT&T is either gone or paranoid.

Got laid off from Match Group in November. Took 4 months to find a new role. Ended up at Toyota in Plano making more money. But those 4 months were the most stressful of my life.
