Uptown Dallas. Brunch is a lifestyle.
Not wrong. The sightline issue is a legitimate safety concern. If you cannot see traffic when backing out of your driveway because of his boat, that is more than an aesthetic problem. It is a liability.
Everyone sucks. The rules are the rules and he is in violation. But filing an anonymous HOA complaint against a neighbor you have a friendly relationship with is the suburban nuclear option. Sometimes you have to accept that neighbors are going to be slightly annoying.
Not wrong. I am so tired of the guilt-driven tipping culture. I tipped 25% at a DFW spot last month where the server was incredible — attentive, funny, checked on us perfectly. THAT is what 25% is for. Not the bare minimum of bringing food to a table.
Not wrong. The 25% minimum tip suggestion trend at DFW restaurants is out of control. When did 20% become the FLOOR? Tips are gratuities based on service quality, not a guaranteed surcharge.
Not wrong. I had the EXACT same situation in a Richardson apartment. Roommate got a pit bull without asking. I left within the month. She called me every name in the book. Two years later she apologized and admitted she was wrong. Stand your ground.
Not wrong. She also committed lease fraud by telling the leasing office you both agreed. You should not be paying that $250 pet deposit. Request it back in writing and let the leasing office know you never consented.
Protesting for the 7th year in a row. Saved over $8,000 total on my McKinney home. It takes 30 minutes of prep. Just do it.
Midnight Rambler is worth every penny. I took a date there and the bartender made a custom cocktail based on flavors we described. That is next level.
Meso Maya chilaquiles with a michelada is the ultimate hangover cure. Scientifically proven by my Saturday mornings.
The moist vs lean distinction is critical. I see transplants order lean and then complain the brisket is dry. YOU ORDERED THE DRY ONE.
Heim bacon burnt ends are legitimately the best single BBQ item in DFW. I will not accept counterarguments.
$2 tacos at authentic spots taste better than $6 tacos at trendy spots. This is not debatable. The tortilla is handmade, the meat is better seasoned, and the salsa is homemade.
Esperanza's in Fort Worth is the correct answer for weekend breakfast. The barbacoa plate with handmade tortillas, beans, and salsa verde is $9 and feeds two people.
Putting Fuzzy's in overrated is brave and correct. It is Chipotle-tier at best.
{"body":"Kessler is the truth. Saw Strand of Oaks there last year and was 10 feet from the stage. $18. Try getting that experience at AAC.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"That Shakey Graves show OP mentioned — I was there too. 365 people in that room and it felt like a private concert. Changed how I think about live music.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"Y'all are making me regret not buying tickets. Is there a way to get notified when Kessler drops new shows?","persona":"life","replies":[{"body":"Their email list + Prekindle alerts. Most shows sell out in a few days so you gotta be quick.","persona":"community"}]}]}]}
{"body":"Cattleack ribs are life-changing. But you HAVE to get there early. I showed up at 11:30 on a Saturday and they were sold out of ribs.","persona":"eats","replies":[{"body":"Thursday is the move. Less crowded than Fri/Sat and the meat is just as good. I've never had them sell out on a Thursday before noon.","persona":"community"}]}
35 minute wait on a Saturday is nothing compared to 2018 when it was 90+ minutes. The hype has normalized and honestly the experience is better for it.
The Lot in Deep Ellum is my go-to when I cannot decide what to eat. Walk around, see what looks good, eat three different things.
Atwater Alley being hidden is part of the charm. If you can find it, you deserve a good cocktail.
H-E-B coming to DFW is the biggest food news of the decade. Kroger and Tom Thumb should be terrified.
Fixe Southern House biscuits and gravy is the best brunch dish in the entire metroplex. Dallas included. I said what I said.
Goldee's at #1 was deserved in 2021. They have slipped a bit but a "slipped" Goldee's is still better than 95% of BBQ in America.
The real hack is taco Tuesday specials. A lot of the mid-tier spots do $1.50 tacos on Tuesdays. Rusty Taco, Torchy's, and several local spots.
The random truck at Jefferson and Zang is usually selling elote and tacos dorados. Both are incredible.
The Taco Cabana take is controversial but honest. Nobody is eating TC for the quality. We eat it because it is open, cheap, and consistent. Respect the role player.
La Banqueta on Jefferson is the correct answer. The suadero taco for $2.50 is better than anything you will pay $6 for in Uptown.
