MFFL. Luka era. Die on this hill.
The trade exception expiring in August is concerning. Use it or lose it. If the front office lets $8.2M in free cap absorption expire unused, that is a failure of creativity.
Do not disrespect Dirk by making this a competition. Both are franchise legends. Dirk built this franchise from nothing. Luka benefits from the foundation Dirk laid.
Dennis Smith Jr. over Donovan Mitchell haunts me. Mitchell was right there. The worst part is Dallas valued athleticism over skill, which is a scouting failure.
Happiest Hour is great but be warned — the wait for the rooftop can be 45+ minutes on a game night. Get there early or stick to the first floor.
Walking to Katy Trail Ice House after a Mavs win on a warm night is peak Dallas. Cold beer, outdoor seating, good vibes. Cannot beat it.
Luka and Kyrie being defensive liabilities is the core structural issue. You need the other 3 starters to be plus defenders, and ideally your bench defenders need to be solid too. That is a roster construction challenge.
Luka will be number one on this list when he retires. His production at this age is ahead of Dirk\'s pace. The only question is whether he stays in Dallas long enough to build the full resume.
Age is the elephant in the room. Kyrie at 34-35 is going to decline. The Mavs need to have a succession plan for the secondary creator role. Whether that is a trade or a draft pick, it needs to happen soon.
The Victory Park outdoor watch parties during playoffs are incredible. During the 2024 run there were 5,000+ people gathered outside AAC watching on screens. Electric.
A trade of one overpaid role player for a cheaper contract plus a pick is the move. You do not need everyone on the roster making $14M. You need good players making $3-5M on value deals.
The supermax for Luka is non-negotiable. You do not let a player of his caliber leave. The issue is everything below the top two contracts. The supporting cast deals are where franchises win or lose.
I was at Game 6 of the Finals. When the clock hit zero, grown men were crying in the stands. 2011 was 13 years of pain finally being released. Nothing in DFW sports has matched that moment.
Stars games are genuinely louder than Mavs games and it is not close. Playoff hockey at AAC is the loudest sporting event in DFW, including Cowboys games at AT&T. I will die on this hill.
Boston was just too deep. When you have 7 guys who can guard Luka at an above-average level, there is only so much one player can do. We need a third star.
The conditioning improvement is real. He looks like a different athlete this year. Faster, more explosive, and playing more games. Credit to him for putting in the work.
Bring a clear bag with snacks from outside. The clear bag policy allows food from outside as long as it fits. Trail mix and granola bars save you $30 easy.
Section 200 brisket nachos are the single best stadium food item in DFW across all venues. I will argue this with anyone.
The Cowboys should be thinking about quantity over quality in this draft. They have stars. They need depth. More picks means more chances to find $2M contributors.
The math supports trading back in most scenarios. Two shots at quality starters is better than one shot at a slightly better starter. The Cowboys need roster depth, not one more star.
The Pro Shop at AT&T Stadium on a non-game day is a different experience. No crowds, the staff actually helps you, and you can browse without getting trampled.
The Dallas Card Show is the move for collectors. I picked up a Troy Aikman rookie card PSA 9 for $180 last quarter. Retail on eBay was $250+ for the same grade.
The new kickoff rules have made kick return more important than it has been in a decade. Dallas needs to invest in a dynamic returner. CeeDee should not be fielding kicks.
Cowboys at two feels right but it also feels like every year we say "if the young players develop" and they never quite do. At some point the ceiling has to become reality.
The time to throw correlation with offensive line injuries is something I have never considered before. It makes perfect sense though. Every extra tenth of a second is more stress on those joints.
$2,300 a year to watch a team that went 8-9. When you put the actual number on paper it makes you question your life choices.
Will McClay does not get enough credit nationally. His hit rate on first and second round picks is among the best in the league. The Parsons pick in particular was a masterclass — everyone knew Parsons was great but McClay pushed for him over a quarterback.
