my hot take: Keenan Online subscription is better value than buying individual BJJFanatics instructionals. $25/month for unlimited access to a world champions entire library vs $200 for one instructional

Sapphire Bay Blvd extension being delayed surprises exactly zero Rowlett residents. Every construction project here runs 6 months late minimum.

Following this thread. Want to hear more takes.

Rowlett HS class of 2002 here. Kyle Orton was two years ahead of me. He was genuinely a good dude, not just a good athlete. Down to earth. Came back to Rowlett after retiring from the NFL. Says a lot about the city that he chose to stay.

Interesting perspective. I see it differently from the Fort Worth side.

Been in Rowlett 15 years. The appreciation on our home has been life-changing. Bought for $185K in 2011, worth $410K now. That's not Frisco money but it's real wealth building.

14-5 at blue belt is solid regardless of how youre winning. the submission doesnt matter as long as youre winning. specialize now and broaden later

shoutout to all the gyms in DFW that are actively building womens programs. its getting better every year. when i started 5 years ago there were MAYBE 20 women training across the entire metroplex. now its way more

Has anyone checked this out yet? Need a firsthand review.

can confirm the open mat on saturdays is great. visited as an outsider and was welcomed immediately. rolled with a brown belt who spent 10 minutes after the round showing me details on the position we were working

As a realtor (yes, one of the honest ones), I always tell my clients to check three things independently: flood zone, noise, and school zoning. These are the three things most likely to cause buyer's remorse.

the wooden dowel rolling is common in thailand. Ive seen it at gyms in Bangkok. its not aggressive — its light rolling with gradually increasing pressure over weeks. whether it actually works beyond placebo is debatable

Not something I expected to read today but glad I did.

The CareNow on Lakeview is underrated for stuff that doesn't need an ER. Got my son's broken finger X-rayed and splinted there in under an hour. Saved us an ER copay.

The mental health counselor addition is the most important thing on this list. These kids are dealing with things we never dealt with. Having a dedicated counselor at each campus is essential, not optional.

$250/month is insane for a gym that doesnt have at least one world-class instructor or a proven competition record. ask what youre paying for. lineage matters. results matter. a nice facility is not worth an extra $100/month

lost my first match in 47 seconds by heel hook. signed up for a nogi tournament without having a single leg lock defense class. lesson learned the hard way. literally signed up for a leg lock seminar the next day

Texas Pride has produced some solid regional MMA fighters. they compete in Fury FC events and the preparation is clearly professional despite being a smaller gym

Fortis MMA is legit but yeah its not a hobbyist gym. the pace of rolling is UFC-fighter pace and if youre a casual white belt you will get absolutely smoked. great if youre serious though

Can someone from the north side weigh in? Curious if it's the same up there.
