Just bought a house in Frisco. Send help (and contractor recs).
Fort Worth suburbs (Keller, Southlake, Colleyville) always get overlooked in these lists. The Tarrant County side is just as nice with less traffic.
Moved from San Diego to Frisco. My mortgage on a 3,500 sq ft house is less than my rent on a 1BR apartment in Pacific Beach. That is not an exaggeration.
Moved from California where PG&E just charges whatever they want. Deregulation sounded scary but I am paying literally half what I paid in San Francisco for better service.
From New York. The toll roads blew my mind. Get the TollTag and set up auto-pay. I got a $200 bill in the mail before I figured this out.
Protesting for the 7th year in a row. Saved over $8,000 total on my McKinney home. It takes 30 minutes of prep. Just do it.
Worked at a chain restaurant in Arlington. Manager had us clock out at 10 PM but we couldnt leave until everything was cleaned, usually 10:30-10:45. Thats 3-4 hours of free labor per week.
Tarrant County (TAD) is notoriously aggressive on appraisals. Always protest in Tarrant. Success rate is even higher because they overshoot.
Got pulled over on 635 last month. Officer asked to search my car. I said no respectfully. He was annoyed but let me go. Know your rights.
My apartment complex in Addison tried to charge me $800 for "carpet replacement" after 4 years. Normal wear and tear per the statute. Sent the demand letter, got my full deposit back in a week.
This is why you always keep your pay stubs. Every. Single. One. Digital screenshots count too.
Senior engineers are fine. Junior engineers are struggling. The entry-level job market in DFW tech is the worst it has been in a decade.
The confidential data point is crucial. I know people who paste entire client contracts into ChatGPT. That is a fireable offense and potentially a legal liability. If you are going to use AI at work, keep sensitive data out of it.
I was at the exhibition. Some pieces were genuinely stunning. One artist combined AI output with hand-painted elements and the result was unlike anything I have seen. Dismissing ALL AI art as "not real" is just as lazy as typing a prompt and calling it art.
Final Fantasy VI's pixel remaster on Steam is the definitive version. The updated sprites honor Yoshitaka Amano's original art while adding modern quality-of-life improvements. Essential.
Watchmen is the greatest comic ever made and Moore's grievances with DC are legitimate. Both of these things are true simultaneously. Read the work, respect the creator's wishes, and acknowledge the industry that exploited him.
You forgot The Flash. Barry Allen could vibrate his molecules fast enough to cool himself or just run to Alaska and back in 3 seconds. He would be fine but he would be insufferable about it.
Hellboy's influence on modern comics and film is massive. Guillermo del Toro's aesthetic, Mike Mignola's use of negative space, the occult-detective genre — all of it traces back to Mignola.
Al Ewing on Immortal Thor continues his streak as the most consistent writer at Marvel. His understanding of cosmic mythology and how it connects to the human experience is unmatched.
The Prose Edda is shockingly readable for a 13th-century text. Jesse Byock's Penguin translation is $12 on Amazon. If you love Marvel's Thor, read the source material. It is wilder than any comic.
CGC 9.8 copies of FF #48 hitting $200K is insane but justified. It is a top-5 Silver Age key. The Galactus Trilogy is the creative peak of the Lee/Kirby partnership.
The anime adaptation improved the ending significantly. MAPPA added emotional weight through voice acting and music that the manga panels could not convey. Yuki Kaji's performance as Eren in those final scenes is career-defining.
AnimeFest's cosplay competition is legitimately world-class. Some of the costumes I saw last year had months of work put into them. The craftsmanship is insane.
Dandadan's animation quality from Science SARU is absurd for a weekly anime. The Turbo Granny chase sequence in Episode 3 was Mob Psycho 100 levels of creative.
Better Call Saul's final season is as good as Breaking Bad's. The courtroom scene in Season 6 where Jimmy becomes Saul is heartbreaking. Bob Odenkirk was robbed of an Emmy.
Tony Gilroy proving that Star Wars works best when you ground it in real political drama instead of nostalgia bait is the most important lesson Disney should learn from this show.
Warrior being undermarketed is a crime. A show based on Bruce Lee's writings with incredible fight choreography and it gets buried. Watch it if you have not.
