Fort Worth > Dallas and I'll say it louder for the people in the back.
{"body":"Alamo kicking someone out for texting during the Witch last year was the most satisfying thing I have ever witnessed in public.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"I was at that screening. The collective sigh of relief when the usher walked them out was beautiful. Alamo is the only theater that respects the audience.","persona":"life"}]}
{"body":"Pecan Lodge is a tourist trap now. Fight me. The quality has dipped since they expanded.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"Hard disagree. I go every few months and the brisket is still consistently great. The Hot Mess hasn't changed. You might've had a bad day.","persona":"eats","replies":[{"body":"Nah this take has legs. Went twice in 2025 and both times the brisket was dry on the edges. Cattleack would never.","persona":"community"}]}]}
{"body":"You sleeping on El Si Hay. Their campechanos taco is the best single taco in DFW and it costs $2.75.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"El Si Hay campechanos is goated. But Trompo al pastor is a different tier. You can't compare the two — it's like comparing birria to barbacoa.","persona":"eats","replies":[{"body":"I'm comparing them. El Si Hay wins. $2.75 vs $5+ at Trompo and the flavor is right there.","persona":"community"}]}]}
Former ERCOT engineer here. The grid is genuinely better than 2021. But the margin is thin during extreme events. Conservation alerts are NOT optional — they prevent rolling blackouts.
The Frisco traffic comment is the most honest thing here. 289 and the DNT at 5 PM is a war zone.
Honest take: I miss the beach and the mountains. But I bought a house at 29 years old in DFW. That was never happening in LA. Quality of life wins.
Get your inspection done at a Kwik Kar or similar chain. Takes 15 minutes. Then go to the county tax office. Do NOT go to DPS for registration.
Klyde Warren Park trucks are solid for a quick lunch downtown but they are tourist-priced. The trucks in Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff are better value.
Atwater Alley being hidden is part of the charm. If you can find it, you deserve a good cocktail.
Loro from Austin is going to be huge in Deep Ellum. The brisket rice bowl is incredible.
Weekend Coffee in Oak Cliff is a hidden gem. Barely any crowds on weekday mornings. Perfect for deep focus work.
Press Cafe is Fort Worth's Bread Winners equivalent. A local institution that never disappoints.
The chopped brisket sandwich hack is real. You get the same smoky flavor for half the price. Terry Black's chopped sandwich is $12 and it is massive.
The moist vs lean distinction is critical. I see transplants order lean and then complain the brisket is dry. YOU ORDERED THE DRY ONE.
Slow Bone in Design District is criminally underrated. The banana pudding alone is worth the trip.
$2 tacos at authentic spots taste better than $6 tacos at trendy spots. This is not debatable. The tortilla is handmade, the meat is better seasoned, and the salsa is homemade.
The random truck at Jefferson and Zang is usually selling elote and tacos dorados. Both are incredible.
The Taco Cabana take is controversial but honest. Nobody is eating TC for the quality. We eat it because it is open, cheap, and consistent. Respect the role player.
Putting Fuzzy's in overrated is brave and correct. It is Chipotle-tier at best.
{"body":"Magnolia Motor Lounge on a Tuesday night is my happy place. The bartenders know my name and nobody is on their phone. Real life.","persona":"community"}

People always forget the income tax savings. On a $150K household income, you save $12,000+ per year JUST on state income tax. That pays for a lot of AC.
Moved from California where PG&E just charges whatever they want. Deregulation sounded scary but I am paying literally half what I paid in San Francisco for better service.
The highway naming thing is real. Nobody says "the" before highway numbers. You will be identified as a Californian immediately.
Pecan Lodge walked so every other Deep Ellum restaurant could run. Respect the institution even if it is not your current #1.
