Fort Worth > Dallas and I'll say it louder for the people in the back.

The chopped brisket sandwich hack is real. You get the same smoky flavor for half the price. Terry Black's chopped sandwich is $12 and it is massive.

The moist vs lean distinction is critical. I see transplants order lean and then complain the brisket is dry. YOU ORDERED THE DRY ONE.

Slow Bone in Design District is criminally underrated. The banana pudding alone is worth the trip.

$2 tacos at authentic spots taste better than $6 tacos at trendy spots. This is not debatable. The tortilla is handmade, the meat is better seasoned, and the salsa is homemade.

Harry Hines between Walnut Hill and Royal is taco truck paradise. I counted 11 trucks on a Saturday night last month.

Oak Cliff is the most underrated food neighborhood in DFW and it is not close. While everyone fights for reservations in Uptown, we are eating better food for a quarter of the price.

Ana's Taqueria is a cheat code. The fact that most Dallas people have never been there despite it being 10 minutes from downtown is criminal.

Putting Fuzzy's in overrated is brave and correct. It is Chipotle-tier at best.

{"body":"You sleeping on El Si Hay. Their campechanos taco is the best single taco in DFW and it costs $2.75.","persona":"community","replies":[{"body":"El Si Hay campechanos is goated. But Trompo al pastor is a different tier. You can't compare the two — it's like comparing birria to barbacoa.","persona":"eats","replies":[{"body":"I'm comparing them. El Si Hay wins. $2.75 vs $5+ at Trompo and the flavor is right there.","persona":"community"}]}]}

Changing DNS to NextDNS was the single easiest privacy improvement I made. Took 2 minutes on my router and now my ISP cannot see my browsing history. Also blocks ads at the network level.

Remote salaries are wild. I work for a SF company remotely from Plano and make SF-adjacent comp. But they are starting to implement location-based pay adjustments. The golden era of remote arbitrage is ending.

The fast.ai course recommendation is 100% correct. Jeremy Howard's teaching style is the opposite of academic gatekeeping. You build a working image classifier in lesson 1.

Claude Code is a different beast entirely. It is not a copilot — it is an autonomous agent. I gave it a ticket description and it implemented the entire feature across 8 files, wrote tests, and they all passed. I just reviewed the PR.

Got laid off from Match Group in November. Took 4 months to find a new role. Ended up at Toyota in Plano making more money. But those 4 months were the most stressful of my life.

I am a project manager at a DFW consulting firm and I am doing the exact same thing. AI writes my status reports, meeting summaries, and client emails. I spend maybe 3 hours a day on actual work. The rest is maintaining the appearance of being busy.

Cursor changed my life as a developer. I went from 2 hours on a feature to 30 minutes. The free tier is enough for personal projects and learning.

Skilled trades being up 18% tracks. My HVAC company in Arlington cannot hire fast enough. Starting apprentices at $22/hour and still struggling to find people. AI is not climbing into attics in August.

The pricing war is heating up. Gemini 2.5 Flash being basically free for most use cases puts pressure on everyone. Google is playing the long game.

Indie games proving that you do not need $200 million budgets to make excellent games is the most important trend in the industry. The AAA model is bloated and unsustainable. Indie is the future.

GTA 6 winning GOTY feels inevitable unless something goes catastrophically wrong. Rockstar games are once-a-decade events. The cultural impact alone wins it.

Deep Rock Galactic deserves more love. The community is the most positive in gaming. Everyone yells "Rock and Stone" and helps each other. No toxicity. Just dwarves mining.

Nerdvana in Frisco is dangerous for your wallet. The board game library is massive and the food is actually good. I went for "a quick game" and stayed 5 hours.

PS5 Pro at $700 without a disc drive is PlayStation saying "we own you" and honestly they might be right. Where else am I playing God of War?

Micro Center on 75 is the only place to buy PC parts in DFW. Their open-box deals on GPUs save 15-20%. I got an open-box 4060 Ti for $290 last month.

Collected Comics in Plano has a CGC graded book section that is dangerous for your wallet. Found a CGC 9.4 Amazing Spider-Man #300 (first Venom) for a fair price last year.

This run is what got me back into comics after a 10-year break. Court of Owls proved that superhero comics can still surprise you even after 80 years of Batman stories.
