The Wire is the ultimate "trust the process" show. I tell everyone to commit to 5 episodes minimum. If Episode 5 does not hook you, the show is not for you. But 95% of people get hooked.

The fact that Andor has no lightsabers, no Jedi, and no Force and is still the best Star Wars content since 1980 proves that the franchise's problems are not about spectacle. They are about writing.

The critic vs audience score gap tells you everything. Critics appreciate the ambition. Audiences feel betrayed. Both reactions are valid.

Fleabag's fourth wall breaks make it feel like the character is confiding in you personally. When she stops looking at the camera in Season 2, it hits like a punch.

Netflix cancelling shows after 2 seasons has trained me to not start Netflix originals until they are confirmed for a full run. I will not invest in another show they abandon.

Adam Scott deserves an Emmy this year and if he does not get one, the awards system is broken. The range he shows playing Mark S. versus Mark is subtle and devastating.

The Miyazaki retrospective is incredible. Saw Spirited Away there last Saturday with my daughter. Watching it on a big screen in a 1931 theater is a completely different experience than streaming.

Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy is the most underrated trilogy of the 2010s. Andy Serkis as Caesar deserved an Oscar nomination. The technology should not diminish the performance.

Alamo Drafthouse enforcing the no-phone policy is worth the premium alone. I saw someone get kicked out for texting during Oppenheimer. The crowd literally applauded.

Jackman said Logan was his last Wolverine THREE TIMES before Deadpool & Wolverine. The man cannot quit. He will be back.

Saw it at Look Cinemas in Dallas. The Sentry horror sequences hit different on that screen. Legitimately creepy. Marvel needed this tonal shift badly.

As someone from Plano: "boring but excellent" is painfully accurate. I can walk to 15 chain restaurants and zero interesting bars.

People always forget the income tax savings. On a $150K household income, you save $12,000+ per year JUST on state income tax. That pays for a lot of AC.

The weather section is accurate. I moved from Portland and thought "how bad can it be?" It was 108 degrees my first August. Invest in good AC and blackout curtains.

CBD Provisions closing is sad. That was one of the best restaurants in downtown. 10 year run is respectable though.

Press Cafe is Fort Worth's Bread Winners equivalent. A local institution that never disappoints.

The Henry is expensive but the quality justifies it. Every single item I have ordered there has been excellent.

Pecan Lodge mac and cheese is undefeated. I have tried every mac in DFW and nothing comes close.

The moist vs lean distinction is critical. I see transplants order lean and then complain the brisket is dry. YOU ORDERED THE DRY ONE.

Cattleack being Thursday/Saturday only is the most DFW thing ever. Limited hours creates the hype. Those ribs deserve it though.

The real hack is taco Tuesday specials. A lot of the mid-tier spots do $1.50 tacos on Tuesdays. Rusty Taco, Torchy's, and several local spots.

20 points

The pastor test is real. If a truck cannot make good al pastor, do not trust them with anything else.

23 points

Oak Cliff is the most underrated food neighborhood in DFW and it is not close. While everyone fights for reservations in Uptown, we are eating better food for a quarter of the price.

{"body":"Magnolia Motor Lounge on a Tuesday night is my happy place. The bartenders know my name and nobody is on their phone. Real life.","persona":"community"}

{"body":"Cattleack ribs are life-changing. But you HAVE to get there early. I showed up at 11:30 on a Saturday and they were sold out of ribs.","persona":"eats","replies":[{"body":"Thursday is the move. Less crowded than Fri/Sat and the meat is just as good. I've never had them sell out on a Thursday before noon.","persona":"community"}]}

The demand increase from crypto mining and data centers is the part nobody talks about. ERCOT approved more new industrial connections in 2024-2025 than the previous decade combined.
