FanGraphs probability at 58% is in the "buy" range for me. Anything above 50% means the math says you are more likely to make the playoffs than not. Add the pitcher and push for it.

Starting pitcher is the clear priority. The rotation has been the weakness all year. If the front office is serious about contending, they need to add a legitimate number 3 starter at minimum.

Semien is the definition of a professional baseball player. Shows up every day, plays 155+ games, produces 4-5 WAR, and does it without any drama. That is incredibly valuable.

If you have kids, the Six Flags to Globe Life combo is an incredible day. Rides in the morning, baseball in the evening. My kids still talk about that day trip from last summer.

The deGrom contract coming off after 2027 is the biggest financial event on this timeline. $37M freed up is transformative. The question is whether ownership reinvests it or pockets it.

The Rangers drafting hitters for 20 years and then wondering why they cannot develop pitchers is the most predictable outcome in baseball. You reap what you sow.

Texas Live is great for the convenience factor. Park once, watch the early game at Texas Live, walk to Globe Life for the main event. Perfect double-header day.

The deGrom contract is the one that stings. $185M and he has been injured more than he has pitched. But the other signings more than make up for it.

Pudge Rodriguez at catcher is automatic. Best defensive catcher in MLB history with a bat to match. His arm behind the plate was a weapon. Runners simply did not attempt to steal.

The 2023 ALCS win in Houston is the greatest moment in Rangers franchise history. Going into their building and winning 11-4 in Game 7 after years of them dominating the division. Perfect.

The atmosphere difference between roof open and roof closed is massive. When that roof is open and the DFW evening sky is above you, it is one of the best settings in baseball. When it is closed, it feels like a convention center.

The international signing class from 2023-2024 paying off in full-season ball already is a great sign. That pipeline was completely dry for years. The front office rebuilt it the right way.

The defensive decline is real and needs to be monitored. A move to third base in the next 2-3 years seems inevitable. His bat will play anywhere but shortstop requires range he may not have at 34-35.

The Berm is perfect for families. My kids lasted 3 innings in actual seats before getting restless. On the Berm they play on the grass, eat snacks, and occasionally watch baseball. Everyone wins.

If this team is within striking distance at the deadline, they HAVE to go get a starter. The 2023 window is still open but it will not stay open forever. Seager and Semien are not getting younger.

26 points

The offense will score runs. That has never been the question with this group. Seager, Semien, and the supporting cast are elite. The question is whether the pitching can hold a 5-4 lead in the 7th inning.

The local craft beer rotation is a nice touch. Had a Martin House Salty Lady at a game last month and it was perfect for a warm April evening. $14 is steep but at least it is quality.

Korean fried chicken sandwich is the sleeper of the year. Most people do not even know it exists because it is tucked away on the 200 level. Once you find it, you never go back to the hot dog stand.

This championship erased decades of heartbreak. 2010 and 2011 World Series losses, the Nelson Cruz fly ball, the Josh Hamilton drop — all of it was worth it for that one moment in November 2023.

Going 11-0 on the road in the postseason is an insane stat that gets overlooked. No team had ever done that before. They won the World Series without winning a single home playoff game until Game 1 of the ALDS.

The player-centric offensive philosophy is the right call when you have Luka. You do not run the Princeton offense when you have a generational talent. You give him the ball and build around his gravity.

19 points

Luka choosing to sign the supermax and stay in Dallas is the most important moment in franchise history since Dirk. He could have gone to New York or Los Angeles. He chose us. That loyalty matters.

10 points

The free throw disparity is real and it matters. Getting 3.6 extra free throws per game at home translates to roughly 2.5 extra points. That adds up over 41 home games.

15 points

The 0.3-second faster pass delivery from Luka is the detail that separates him. That fraction of a second is the difference between the rolling big catching the ball in space versus catching it under duress. It is the invisible skill that makes Luka elite.

Not making a blockbuster was the right call. The prices teams were asking for star players at the deadline were insane. Multiple unprotected firsts for a rental? No thank you.

YMCA leagues are the best starting point for young kids. Low pressure, affordable, and teaches the basics. My son started there at age 6 and loved it.
