Forget the restaurants. The best tacos in DFW come from trucks and stands. Here are the ones worth tracking down.
The greats:
- Tacos el Guero (rotates, check Instagram) — The al pastor is carved fresh. They post their location daily.
- Los Tacos de Huicho (Harry Hines area) — Late night legend. The asada is perfectly charred.
- El Tacazo (Bachman Lake area) — Cheap, fast, authentic. Four tacos for $8.
How to find taco trucks in DFW:
- Drive down Harry Hines Blvd between Walnut Hill and Royal. Trucks every few blocks.
- Jefferson Blvd in Oak Cliff on weekends
- Bachman Lake park area, especially weekend evenings
- Check @dfwtacotrucks on Instagram for daily location updates
What to order at a truck you have never been to:
- Al pastor — this is the quality test. If the pastor is good, everything else will be.
- Suadero — underrated cut, melts in your mouth when done right
- Whatever the truck specializes in — if they have a trompo spinning, get pastor. If they have a grill, get asada.

Harry Hines between Walnut Hill and Royal is taco truck paradise. I counted 11 trucks on a Saturday night last month.
