Free coding resources for people in DFW who don't want to pay for a bootcamp

Not everyone has $15K for a bootcamp. Here's what I used to teach myself to code for free while living in DFW:

  • freeCodeCamp (web dev curriculum — completely free)
  • The Odin Project (full stack — also free)
  • Dallas Public Library card gives you free access to LinkedIn Learning, which has coding courses
  • UTD and UNT both allow non-students to audit some CS courses
  • The DFW Free Code Camp meetup group (active, meets monthly)

Took me 9 months of studying 2-3 hours a night after work. Got a junior web dev role at a small agency in Addison making $52K. Not glamorous but it was a start.

You don't need to pay to learn this stuff. You just need discipline.
