I see missing person flyers shared on social media constantly. Sharing is good but there's more you can do:
- Save the photo to your phone. You're more likely to recognize someone from a saved photo than a post you scrolled past.
- If you think you see the person, call the number on the flyer or 911. Don't approach — you don't know the situation.
- If you work at a gas station, restaurant, or store, put the flyer up. Many missing persons are spotted by workers.
- Check the Texas DPS missing persons list periodically: txdps.state.tx.us
Most of these situations resolve within a few days. But the ones that don't need community help.
Being aware costs nothing.
The tip about saving the photo is smart. Scrolling past a share and actually recognizing someone in real life are totally different things.
