I work remote and I've done laptop sessions at every coffee shop in the metroplex. Here's the real list for people who need to be productive.
Best for working:
- Houndstooth Coffee (multiple, best at 1900 N Henderson Ave) — Fast wifi, good outlets, great drip coffee. Not too loud. The gold standard for remote work.
- Weekend Coffee (Oak Cliff, 602 W Davis St) — Quiet Bishop Arts side street. Good pastries. Wifi is fast.
- Cultivar Coffee (East Dallas, 1700 Exposition Ave) — Fair Trade focus. Spacious. Never feels crowded.
- Murray Street Coffee (Deep Ellum, 103 Murray St) — Best if you need energy. Espresso is excellent. Can get loud on weekends.
- Avoca Coffee (Fort Worth, 1311 W Magnolia Ave) — If you're on the FW side. Beautiful space, serious coffee.
Best coffee (forget the work):
- Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters (Bishop Arts) — Single-origin pour-overs. These people are serious about beans.
- Noble Coyote Coffee (Oak Cliff) — Direct trade, roast in-house. The Ethiopian is otherworldly.
- Ascension (Design District) — Best espresso in Dallas.
Avoid for work: Any coffee shop in Uptown on a Saturday. Too loud, too crowded, wifi dies.
