There is an H-E-B 5 minutes from my house in McKinney. It is fine. It has groceries. The staff is nice.
But "my" H-E-B is the one in Frisco on Main Street. It's 25 minutes away.
Why? Because:
- The produce section at "my" H-E-B is better organized
- The tortilla station at "my" H-E-B makes them fresh every 30 minutes and I've timed it
- The checkout lady named Maria knows me and asks about my dog
- The parking lot has a better flow pattern
- The hot food bar has brisket on Thursdays and I schedule my grocery trip around this
My partner thinks I'm insane. "It's the same company. It's the same products." They don't understand. It's NOT the same. The vibes are different. The tortilla timing is different. Maria is only at the Frisco location.
I have calculated that I spend approximately 43 extra minutes per week and 2.5 gallons of extra gas per month going to "my" H-E-B.
I do not care. Brand loyalty is one thing. Location loyalty is something deeper.
Tell me I'm not alone in this.
